He enjoyed the experience of active in a insignificant country town behind having grown up on Sydney’s northern beaches. On his return to Australia he moved to balling to establish the beginning full time independent Optometry practice in 1979, obvious as Chris Doe Optometry. At this time he was invited by a GP practice to conduct a weekly Optometry clinic from their rooms in Byron Bay. Over time this service developed into a branch practice of Chris Doe Optometrist, becoming the beginning full time Optometry practice in Byron Bay in 1982. Nicola Sawyer joined the practice in 1993 and in 2011 assumed the role of principal. From that time the practice became obvious as balling Optometry. Chris continues to appreciate practicing Optometry with Nicola and the team. She is a member of the professional body Optometry Australia and regularly attends professional meetings seminars to retain abreast of advances and changes in the eye protection field. Nicola is a professional supporter of the MDFoundation, who are committed to reducing the incidence and impact of macular disease in Australia, and also Optometry Selfless Sight which has so far provided sustainable eye concern projects in 38 countries and is helping to transform lives through the gift of vision. She is also a busy mother of 3 school age children and enjoys playing squash and spending time outdoors enjoying our pretty beaches and cycle ways. She has completed the Westpac Charity walks from Byron Bay to balling to appreciate our ravishing coastline, attain a personal goal assist hoist funds for our prized local service, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
